Chemotherapy

Our veterinary team offers advanced treatments with minimal side effects.

This referral service is temporarily paused.

Our veterinary teams provide prompt diagnosis, surgical and medical management for most forms of cancer along with compassionate guidance in providing a good quality of life throughout. We are fortunate that with veterinary medical advances, we can successfully treat many cancers with minimal side effects from treatment. Our approach is always to place the comfort and happiness of the patient first and to work closely with you during the diagnostic and treatment process. Chemotherapy involves the use of medications to treat cancer as opposed to surgery or radiation. Chemotherapy drugs attack cells in the process of growth and division.

Will chemotherapy make my pet sick, common side effects?

Compared to people who receive chemotherapy, pet animals experience fewer and less severe side effects because we use lower doses of drugs and do not combine as many drugs as in human medicine.

What are some side effects of Chemo?

Common side effects can be vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia and or bone marrow suppression.

How is chemotherapy given to my dog?

Chemotherapy treatments can be administered either orally, intravenously or subcutaneously (injection under the skin). Pet receiving treatment are admitted to the hospital for the day where they are closely monitored by trained team members during treatment.
