Kim is a certified canine rehab technician (CCVRT), in 2021 completed a Dog Trainer Certificate program through DogNostics Education Center. Kim’s focus is to provide all of our rehabilitation patients with excellent ongoing care, this includes everything from postoperative TPLO care to aiding older animals with their mobility, through a variety of modalities, including massage, laser therapy, muscle conditioning exercises and hydrotherapy. Kim uses fear free/pain free methods to create positive association during rehab appointments, which may require a stage approach for some more sensitive dogs.
“From as young as I can remember, I had been bringing home animals to save. It just seemed natural to go into the industry. I have been a registered full-time tech for 29 yrs, with 19 of those year as a rehab tech. My favorite thing about my field of choice is working with progressive, forward-thinking veterinarians and peers.”
In addition to her work with rehabilitation, in her spare time, Kim also revels in canine training and behaviour with her Certified Service dog (retired), TeeJay and her other dogs HiJinx, Fynn and her newest young dog – Fenyx. The two youngsters are border collie from UK lines and are amazingly calm boys – until it's time to work in the sheep field and do the job they are bred for. FYI – it's quite an addictive hobby!
